🏊 🏊♂ 🏊 Trans Tahoe Relay Swim
One of the region’s most unique events took place on the waters of Lake Tahoe this past weekend. The Trans Tahoe Relay Swim is an 11-mile swim race that starts at Sand Harbor and finishes at Skylandia Beach. Teams are made up of six individuals. Each swimmer does a 30-minute timed segment while their teammates cruise along in a boat. Once all swimmers do their 30-minute segment, they do 10-minute segments until the finish.
The event draws participants from all over the country and it’s common to see high-level collegiate and past Olympic swimmers in the field. There were 268 teams in this year’s race. Congratulations to the top-3 overall teams:
🥇 Tahoe Eleven Milers
🥈 RCP Tiburon Milers
🥉 The Olympic Club
Life Time Tahoe Trail Mountain Bike and Run
Life Time Fitness hosted their annual Tahoe Trail Mountain Bike race at Northstar on Saturday. There were two distances: a 42-miler and a 22-miler. Originally, the 42-miler was scheduled to be a 100K (62-miles), but the day before race organizers decided to shorten the course. In a fun side note: NBA Hall of Famer, Reggie Miller, raced the longer distance and said it was a very brutal course and was happy they shortened the distance.
In addition to the mountain bike race, Life Time held their inaugural trail running race with a 50K and 15K on Sunday. The longer mountain bike and run distances served as qualifiers for the Leadville 100. Congratulations to the top-3 in each distance and discipline:
